As the elections are just around to corner you just realize that there is only 7 more days till the election and advanced voting already opened .Now you wonder who to vote for, who will support your family and who will make a good prime minister. Well, don’t worry you came to the right place. On this post I will be talking to you about the platforms of the three main parties: The Conservative Party of Canada, The New Democratic Party of Canada, and The Liberal Party of Canada. In this article I would be talking about Health Care, Justice, Economy.
In this category the main idea that all parties are arguing about is marijuana. The Conservatives stand by the current policy of it being illegal and a criminal if found with marijuana. But the NDP and Liberals are willing to legalize and decriminalize as well are regulating marijuana. But the NDP’s allows a small amount and regulated it. The NDP’s want to the authorized sellers to take commission for consultations for non-medical use. The Liberals do not give any info about commissions. The liberals say that if they are elected they will establish a public safety officer compensation benefit of $300,000 to support the families of First Responders and emergency worker who have died on the Line of Duty or permanently injured. The NDP and the Conservatives isn’t speak anything on this idea.
The NDP has stated that they will create 4 years of a balanced budget. They would also be increase the corporate tax from 15% to 17% and increase the federal minimum wage from whatever the province have to $15 for the whole country. The NDP say “they will lower the taxes for small sized businesses”. The NDP also say that they are going to add 1¢ of the existing tax for gas. As the Liberals don’t state anything about minimum wages but they stand on “cutting the middle class income tax rate from 22% to 20.5% and would raise taxes from 29% to 33% on incomes over $200,000”. and will create a Canadian Child Benefit worth “up to $533 a month per child.”. The Conservative say they would create “1.3 million new jobs by 2020.” The Conservative Party would and reduced small business tax rate from 11% to 9% by 2019. The Conservative government also says they will “invest 20 million in The Canadian Lobster Industry.
As the refugee crisis is a Global Problem each party had promised a particular amount of the Conservatives promised to accept 10,000 refugees in the next four months. The Liberals promised to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada as the NDP say they would they would bring 10,000 immediately and 46,000 in the course on the next four years.
These are some of the ideas that the major parties had and their platform.
So even if you have voted already for the wrong parties you now at least what to expect.

Importance to teach Gov’t
It is important to teach students about the Government in every grade because the government is in charge of the country. And students should know what’s going on in their country and what laws there are. Especially who are the leaders are such as Member of Provincial Parliament, Member of Legislative Assembly, Prime Minister, Member of Parliament, Mayor, and City Councillors.
It is also important to teach students about the government because they can start to think about their future career, also teach the process of making a law so if they want to be in Youth Parliament they can.
During voting time they can help their parents if they still have not made a decision. If you teach students about the government, there is a better chance for them to make better choices.
To help kids understand they can go to field trips, such as to the Municipal office. If you are in Toronto you can go to City Hall and if the Provincial/Territorial/State government. Or do projects such as having a class vote and find out which party is supported the most by students.
Conservative Party of Canada/Parti conservateur du Canada
The leader of this party is Stephen Joseph Harper. He is the leader for the federal government. The leader of the provincial gov’t is Timothy Patrick Hudak.
The party got started on Dec.7.1942. This party likes to lower tax rates and cut other important stuff like old-age benefits and etc. Timothy P. Hudak tried to stop McGuinty from approving Bill 115 Teachers Wages. WHY??!!?? Mr.Harper lowered tax rates but it he is cutting old-age benefits and etc. But Harper help bring peace to Iraq.
PARTY SUPPORTERS: The party gets supported be the citizen who are 18 years and over to be the governing party. To make a law another party need to support it if the party is a minority government . If the party is a majority government no other party have to vote.
The letters N-D-P/N-P-D stands for the New Democratic Party/ Nouvea Parti democratique
The NDP/NPD got started on August 3 1961.
The NDP/NPD are in charge of equal rights, equal gender rights, water safety, NAFTA and etc.
The leader of the New Democratic Party/ Nouvea Parti democratique is Tom Mulcair for the federal legislature, for the Provincial New Democratic Party/ Nouvea Parti democratique is Andrea Horwath. Mr.Mulcair and his team did a lot. But today I am going to tell you one thing out of all. when the economy was fragile the Harper gov’t plan was to cut employment benefits and insurance and old-age benefits/pension. Mulcair and his team stopped them.
The people who support it is the population but if they are creating a Bill like Bill 115. If that party is a minority gov’t that party needs another party to support it. But if the party is majority gov’t it does not need another party to support it.
There are three levels of Government it is:
- Federal(entire county)
- Province(each province)
- Municipal(city, town or region)
The parties are the NDP(New Democratic Party) then the Liberal and Conservative. In the Federal Government Steven Harper is the Prime Minister. The position leader was Jack Layton but because he passed away because of cancer Tom Mulcair Now takes is place, and Bob Ray.
